Hazrat Bilal Habashi (Ashiq e Rasool (PBUH)) is the first great saint (بزرگ) of the world to be appointed as the world’s first muezzin. (موزن).
He left the mortal world in the year 20 AH. He was around sixty years old at the time. In Damascus, he was buried near Bab al-Saghir.
