Masarif of Zakat (Recipients of Zakat) are mentioned in which Surah of Quran Pak are mentioned in Surah Tauba. On 2nd Hijri zakat was obligatory in Islam and in 1980 Zakat System was introduced in Pakistan as “Zakat and Usher” ordinance.
In Islam, Zakat is obligatory on every Sahib-e-Nisab ( صاحب نصاب). Zakat has a complete and comprehensive social status. If every Sahib-e-Nisab starts paying Zakat, then Muslims can be financially prosperous and be able not to beg from anyone else and by paying Zakat, Muslims as a whole can escape the curse of interest.
